Acid Wash/Bond Coat  - Day 3

Mixing a bond coat:  A procedure using Portland cement, course marble sand, masonry glue.   On this project, pool was acid washed but not bond coated.  Incoming rain prohibited the bond coat procedure.  What you are seeing is a acid washed old plaster surface less any hollow.  Light well was chipped around, old rope anchors removed.  On the day of plaster, anti leak white fittings will be installed along with some spotters (step tile trim).

Application of bond coat is done with a heavy knap roller.  The idea is to have stiff, rough peaks that sticks to the old plaster (because of masonry glue) and the new plaster installed the following day.

Because of ground water, a temporary stand pipe was installed in the main drain hydro port.  Ground water will only go up so high in this pipe.  Plaster crew may need to pump sub gunite water out during the plaster process.  When they are done, the pipe is removed, main drain hydro port is plugged off, main drain cover installed and a garden hose refill is done.

Generally, the plaster crew is next up.  Because of forecasted winds (March), on this project we will go ahead and remove/replace the deck-o-seal.  We will wait for a calmer day for plaster.  Also, homeowner had a DE grid element with a hole in it.  A tech will pull the filter apart, inspect and replace any broken elements.  After that, reassemble the tank for when the pool is refilled.
